Exterior Cleaning Formula |
2/3 cup TSP or TSP substitute 1/3 cup detergent 1 qt. bleach 3qt. warm water The TSP substitute works the same as TSP except it has no phosphates, phone around to your local paint and building supply stores first as it's not available in all outlets, it's environmentally friendly. You can use any type of detergent you want, dish, laundry; the soap acts as a carrier for the other ingredients. Use a garden sprayer, dampen down the area you want to clean with your garden hose first, spray on the cleaner and let it stand for about 15 to 20 minutes, do not apply in direct sunlight. Take a broom and scrub to really dirty areas and then hose off. |

Gerry's Window Cleaning formula #3 |
Washing windows is one of the most dreaded of spring tasks, but you can make it a lot easier on yourself if you give up the spray cleaner and paper towels. A squirt of dishwashing liquid in a pail of water, a natural sponge, and a squeegee will make your panes sparkle, and cause you a lot less pain. |
Lighter fluid! |
Removing grease, oil or tar spots from carpet…a wonderful tip for the wife of a mechanic who also restores old cars at home! Our carpets are light tan and the lighter fluid doesn’t alter the carpet colour at all. Another advantage to the lighter fluid is that it comes in a bottle with a fine nozzle, so the fluid can be directed to exactly where you need it. Sherry Soball |

Simple furniture
polish |
Mix 2 parts olive oil or cooking oil with 1
part lemon juice, use beeswax if possible instead of the oil it will smell lovely |
Lemony Furniture
Oil |
1 cup olive oil 1 tsp lemon essential oil Mix well. Apply with a soft rag. Wipe and buff well to a gleaming shine. |
Furniture Polish |
2 ounces beeswax 1/2 pint turpentine About 1/4 ounce Essential Oil You need to blend the mixture together. So heat a pan of hot water and use a bowl that fits in it. Turpentine is flammable so you need to be careful. Grate up the beeswax and place in the bowl with the turpentine and heat till it all melts. Take off the heat and allow to cool. Just before it starts to harden add any essential oil that you fancy for a lovely aroma. You can use lavender or lemon or anything really. Once it has cooled down completely it will be like a thick cream. You will have to put a bit of effort in to get a shine, and after a couple of hours the smell of turpentine will diminish. To make the above polish more manageable you can melt a table spoon of soap in 4 a cup of warm water and blend into the above mixture. |
